Who We Are


The Minnesota County Attorneys Association is an independent, voluntary organization of County Attorneys dedicated to improving the quality of justice in the State of Minnesota. The Association is a not-for-profit corporation governed by a Board of Directors elected annually by the membership.

The members of the Association are dedicated to the accomplishment of this Mission by developing consensus on legal and public policy issues of statewide significance to County Attorneys. The Mission will be implemented competently and professionally while adhering to the highest ethical standards of the legal profession.

The Minnesota Safe Harbor for Sexually Exploited Youth Law, passed in July 2011, addresses the key components of ECPAT-USA’s model safe harbor legislation. The law affirms Minnesota’s recognition that it is a best practice to treat sexually exploited children and those at risk for exploitation as victims rather than as juvenile delinquents.

MSGC 2011 Sentencing Practices Data ReportsPublished On Monday, December 10, 2012
The Sentencing Guidelines Commission has released its data reports for sentencing practices in 2011. The Commission's main report, 2011 Sentencing Practices: Annual Summary Statistics for Felony Offenders, contains information on all felony offenders sentenced in Minnesota. Other reports focus on select felony crimes of interest such as assaults, DWI, and controlled substance offenses.

Missouri V. McNeelyPublished On Wednesday, November 28, 2012
The U.S. Supreme is scheduled to hear oral arguments in Missouri V. McNeely on January 9, 2013. The issue is whether the natural dissipation of alcohol creates an exigent circumstance allowing the state to collect a warrantless blood sample in a DWI case. The MCAA joined the NDAA amicus.
